Indonesia | Bali, A Sanctuary of Tropical Calm

I arrived in Bali with a clear intention. During my travels around Southeast Asia, especially in Thailand and Vietnam, I kept hearing people talk about the healing energy of this island. Everyone said Bali had something special, a softness in the air, a spiritual rhythm that stayed with you long after leaving. So I went with the desire to do a holistic healing retreat, and the island welcomed me as if it had been waiting.

The retreat was transformative. Bali has this unique way of slipping into your energy, showing you what you need even before you ask for it. I experienced herbal rituals, sound healing sessions that wrapped around my senses, Reiki moments, open-air meditations and quiet spaces that helped me release things I hadn’t noticed I was carrying. It’s a kind of healing.

I also joined a digital nomad retreat in Canggu, where I stayed for a few days. Canggu has this young, creative, free spirit. Cafés full of people working with the sound of the waves nearby, wide beaches where time feels slower, and a beautiful community of people who live on the move. This retreat taught me how to balance work and wellbeing, how to structure my days without drowning in stress. With active breaks, beach walks, deepth conversations, creativity sessions, I felt that lifestyle made so much sense.

And as everything in Bali connects, I ended up complementing it with a holistic wellness retreat, softer but full of magic. Traditional massages, body rituals, flower baths, quiet spa hours and conscious eating that made me feel lighter and more connected. Bali takes care of your body, your mind and your spirit all at the same time, and I let myself fall into that rhythm completely.

One of the most entertaining days was my visit to the Monkey Forest. That place is a beautiful kind of chaos. The monkeys are playful, curious and shameless, and I laughed so much seeing how they try to steal glasses, bottles or anything shiny. It’s a place you absolutely must visit, because it blends nature, humor and surprise in the same moment.

And of course, there’s the food, which feels like another journey on its own. Nasi Goreng, that flavorful fried rice. Mee Goreng, warm noodles full of comfort. And Babi Guling, the iconic spiced pork of the island. Eating in Bali is another way of understanding its culture and its generosity.

Bali is a place that absorbs you. Once you’re there, you never want to leave. Time stretches, life softens, and a little piece of you stays on the island, even when you finally go.
